Sponsorship

FACES depends on the contributions of private individuals, corporate sponsors, foundations, and Stanford University departmental giving. With this help and support, FACES conferences have brought together deserving student-leaders and compelling speakers for life-changing exchanges and educational experiences.

Funding Goals

Short-Term. Over the next year, FACES hopes to raise $80,000 to fully fund its expanding conference size and potential, and to lay the groundwork for an alumni network. In 2004, spending for the conferences alone was $60,000.

Five-Year. Over the next five years, FACES has plans to expand to other schools around the U.S. and China, to increase alumni contact with one another, and to increase conference size as well. The projected budget for this five-year plan is $500,000.

Costs

All donated funds are used to pay for the following:

  • 50% of the price of airfare for every delegate
  • Airfare for speakers
  • Conference program materials
  • Conference necessities including housing, food and transportation
  • Recreational activities for the delegates

Donations

FACES accepts three types of donations:

  1. Short-Term Donations – cash funding which supports FACES over the next year, defined as any donation of $10,000 and under.
  2. Long-Term Donations – cash funding which supports FACES over the next five years, in line with its Five-Year plan to expand to other schools and create an alumni network, defined as any donation exceeding $10,000.
  3. In-Kind Donations – non-cash funding including frequent flier miles, office supplies, food, venues for recreational activities, etc.
    • Frequent Flier Miles. Because airfare costs comprise a major portion of FACES spending each year, FACES has set up a program accepting donations of miles. Donations are tax exempt for the equivalent cash amount assigned by the Stanford University Office of Development. For more information on frequent flier miles donations, please contact Seamon Chan at schan76@stanford.edu. Contact information for any other inquiries is located at the bottom of the page.

In exchange for their support, FACES provides benefits for each type of donor:

    • Tax exemption for the cash value of the donation
    • Two free passes to the 2005 conferences
    • Recognition of donor on website, conference materials, and fundraising documents
